1.     What actions have you personally taken to support a greener, more sustainable climate?

Actions taken by my family at home include the planting of trees, a large vegetable garden and fruit trees. I have sold my gas powered boat and we are paddling now instead. We recycle and compost. Work from home whenever possible and combine multiple errands at one time to reduce our emissions.

We have upgraded our insulation and windows at home, as well as installing solar powered lighting.

We always try to recycle, up cycle and free cycle.

2.     What opportunities for climate leadership at the municipal level (e.g. greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs)) would you champion in one or more of these areas: Buildings | Housing | Land use (sprawl) | Transportation | Other

The opportunities at the Municipal level are numerous. Some of the actions taken through my council supported decisions include more efficient lighting, smart programming of heating and cooling in all facilities. The implementation of better transit( more work is required here) I personally suggested considering electric vehicles in our fleet be considered. I believe we can increase our level of green bin service in Muskoka.

Any Municipal or District projects will be built to Leeds standards.

As far as Land sprawl is considered I support small agriculture and homesteading. Some new lots can be created where appropriate, according to the PPS, CPP and District OP.

Moving forward we all have to take personal action to determine our carbon foot print and share ideas to communally reduce it!

3. A long-term problem requires a long-term solution. What is your 100-year plan? If elected, what would be your first action?
